Hello...
I was born in May 8th 1966, the year military dictatorship took place in Indonesia. Fortunately, I did not follow the spirit of un-democratic military system, even I hate all the types of dictatorism. maybe this what make me take the life in civil society movement that is trade union activist in SBSI (serikat buruh sejahtera indonesia). After completion of my university degree from Universitas Simalungun in small city in Pematang Siantar (north sumatera), I directly involved in trade union. Even though at the time Rezim Suharto only allowed one single trade union to be exist that was SPSI. it was painfull story, came to Jakarta only guided by optimism and angry about monopolistic political system and un-fair income distribution to most of the population.
I was only able to survived because the media published my articles. my union have no budget to paid our honorarium, of course we understood the situation. we have to sacrificed for this circumstances since the ide establishing independent trade union as alternative to the workers more intrested than amount of money.
to make story short, finally Suharto rezim fell down in 1998, and government recognized my union by ratification of ILO convention no.87 about freedom of associated. I was praud to my self because I gave big contribution for thsi ratification, since I was with other international union and NGO's every year pressure Indonesia in ILO annual meeting to accept SBSI demand for ratification of ILO convention no.87. If SBSI was not struggle at the time on this issue, may be till now Indonesia still maintain one-single union policy as commomly populer practices in communist countries. I was in charged as international affairs at the time in SBSI. Almost half my life between 1995-1998 spent in abroad for launched international solidarity for Indonesia, Belgium, Swiss, Netherland, France were my second home at that time.
Today after 10 years passed, I has been elected as president KSBSI till 2011, for my strugle in international level, International also gave me prominent position by putting me as vice presdient in ITUC (international Trade Union Confederation) based in Brussels, executive board of ITUC in Asia Pacific based in Singapore and Governing body of ILO till 2012 based in Geneve. In domestic I also got recognized to be one fo commisionary of PT. Jamsostek (social security) as representing workers. Besides that I am often involved in tripartite meeting, speakers in various forums. While recognized my lacking in many fields, I am proud to be remain independent from any political parties and government, I remain committed to be workers voices and democratic movement. For the trade union point of view, the position I have now never been happened to Indonesia unionist at least since 6o's.
Other things, I got married to my wife Melan and has 2 cute boys (Luigi and Garcia). I love traveling ( almost all big cities in the world had been captured). Others hobby are; listening muzic, sport, reading spy novel and history, singing (this is Taurus stufs).
Most people find me easy-going person, I do not like problem specially un-necessary problem, I love peace, I like to be gentle and cool. I don't want talk to much, even though I like making a jokes.
Oh ya, I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters ( all had got married adn have childrens). My mom prefer live in Tapanuli after my daddy die. She likes has big family, sometimes she visited us in Jakarta.
